The family moved to Buenos Aires to Victoria, London at the age of six when Taylor-Joy was born. Taylor-Joy said that the move had been difficult and that she was unable to go back to school in English because she hoped to be able to return to Argentina. Her school had to change to Northlands in order to attend Hill House. Then she attended Queen's Gate School in which she was a ballet student and took part in school-based plays. When she was 16, she left school to focus in acting full-time. From a young age Taylor-Joy knew that she wanted to become an actress and her dreams came true when she received a modeling contract at the hands of Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
